Having a month designated to raise awareness about Breast Cancer is really important. The whole world seems to go pink in October, from grocery store products to magnetic ribbons on cars.

In October it seems we all remember someone we know who suffers or has suffered from breast cancer, and then we move right into the holiday season without a backward glance. Celebrate Your Anniversary In Style

A couple of years ago my in-laws had their 50th Wedding Anniversary. By some standards it was a simple affair, just family and friends getting together for an evening of remembering and celebrating a very special marriage and the happiness that came from it.
But when that marriage produced nine children, 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, then it became something worth shouting about! I wish you could have seen all the excitement in getting ready for the big event. Anniversary presents were bought, a lovely anniversary cake was ordered and the church was decorated with flowers and all the trimmings for the big party to celebrate 50 years together. The highlight of the evening was the music, with my aunt singing the same song she sang at her sister's wedding reception 50 years before, and all nine children doing a performance of a historical song and skit they had put on when they were kids, for a PTA program their mom had "volunteered" them for. It was so funny! The night was a special one for my mother-in-law who had looked forward to it for years. I'm so glad she has those memories as she is now a widow.
So when anniversary time rolls around, get out and celebrate. Do it up big and party till the cows come home.

I get invited to a lot of baby showers. It is always fun to take something a little different than the standard layette sets, bags of diapers or packages of tiny socks. I'm always looking for cute clothing or special gifts I can buy ahead and hang protected in my closet until the next shower date arrives. When I was talking with my sister-in-law a few months ago, she told me my nephew had been married at Disneyland in a beautiful ceremony complete with Cinderella's coach and all the trimmings as only Disney could do. That got me to thinking... surely Disneyworld in Orlando must do weddings also.

It's Time For Santa To Start Making His List

It's time for Santa to start making his list. Christmas shopping will commence in earnest barely after the Halloween trick or treaters have polished off those candy apples and Hershey mini's.
With the economy in a downturn, parents may be depending more on Santa this year to supply Christmas Day goodies for the kids. So it might be a good idea to make sure your kids are in Santa's good boy and good girl book. Better yet, why not tell Santa right up front about your little one's virtues? Make sure they dress the part so Santa doesn't have to look too close.
